The design of the level created within 8-Bit Blitz was an arcade that led the player into the arcade shooter worlds available. That being the case, the goal with UI was to create a design that meshed immersion into arcade designs. Research into Chow’s GDC talk of integrating UI into the environment was easily met by putting the game menus into arcade screens of the base level, and Feldman’s take on arcade UI aesthetics, color theories, and font usage in his book Designing Arcade Computer Game Graphics helped merge the UI into an element of the level.
